What to Keep and What to Lose for 2008
Trends come and go faster than Pam Andersen can switch husbands; keeping up with them can be exhausting! Now that the New Year has arrived, it’s time to toss the old and usher in the new, and Social Diva is here to help you do just that! Check out our list of what fashion trends to keep and what fashion flops to lose for 2008:
What to Keep:
High-waisted skirts – This classic trend gives every Diva a great hourglass shape, and helps to hide any post-holiday tummy bulges we may have acquired over the last few months.
Skinny pants – Still hot for next season, pair your skinny jeans with a beaded trapeze top for evening, or a tee and a swing jacket for day.
Ray-Ban sunglasses – Whether you’re going aviator-style like Jessica Alba, or rocking the wayfarer à la Kirsten Dunst, frames by this iconic eyewear designer make everyone look like a rock star.
The Bob – Every trendsetting Hollywood fashionista from Katie Holmes to Rihanna to Posh has made the move from flowy locks to a structured bob cut. There’s nothing wrong with integrating a little bit of structure from time to time.
Cobalt blue – This jewel tone is definitely a keeper. Complementing every skin tone, cobalt blue will stand strong in 2008 as your go-to LBD alternative for evening frocks.
What to Lose:
High waisted pants – Unlike high-waisted skirts, these pants are uncomfortable, and have a tendency to look incredibly unattractive. We mean, did you SEE those pictures of Mischa Barton? Yikes.
Crocs – We understand that Crocs are a smart and comfy option when you’re gardening or running out to grab the morning paper, but you should NOT be donning these rubber clogs for normal day or evening wear… unless you’re a chef. Then you get a pass.
Skulls – Pirate-themed accessories are totally over. If you still want to express your punk-rock side through your adornments, try items printed with or shaped like pistols. They’re the new rebel-rousing accessory shape for ’08.
Tent dresses – This shape, though interesting on size 00 models, look like shapeless sacks on most real people. Don’t toss them quite yet though – you could always use cotton renderings of this shape as loungewear for around the house.
