One step off the busy sidewalk brings you into a curvy white-lit hallway. And just like that, you are transported from crazy Midtown mayhem to cool modern haven.

This fine dining restaurant and hip bar is located at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Primarily designed as a spontaneous dining destination for museum-goers, The Modern is also a perfect post-shopping rest stop and after work Midtown meet-up.

Inspired by Executive Chef Gabriel Kreuther’s Alsatian roots, the Bar Room menu features an array of over 30 savory dishes served as small plates. This gives guests the freedom to enjoy a light meal or create a multi-course tasting. The open, elegant and modern space includes a luminescent glass wall and a 46-foot marble bar that floats above a lighted glass base. The stunning glass wine wall that holds more than 2200 bottles completes the incredible light display.

The fine dining area overlooks the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, offering a phenomenal view and a prix fixe menu. For those looking for a little fresh air, there is a seasonal outdoor terrace. For those looking for a little privacy, there are two special dining rooms. A separate street level entrance on West 53rd Street allows guests to enjoy the restaurant and bar long after the curators have called it a day.
